Departments

Marketing

To offer prizes for the competition, marketing is in contact with local and global business partners. The department is focused on finding sponsors and marketing online through our social media (Instagram, LinkedIn, and YouTube) and receives credit for all outreach metrics and growth.

Business

The business department's sole focus is to promote the curriculum to school districts, primarily contacted by phone and email. This is the fastest way to achieve large-scale implementation, as each school district provides around 10-100k participants for the program. Having already reached 204 school districts across 16 states and 10 nations, the business team continues to expand outreach globally.

Curriculum

Hackonomics offers a curriculum primarily focused on financial literacy, covering the base fundamentals at a middle school level through PDFs, videos, and an integrated app. The curriculum is 2-4 hours of material, part of which leads towards the competition project. Having reached over 2.55 million people, the curriculum is verified by industry experts in economics, business, and computer science to ensure consistency and accuracy. The curriculum team seeks to expand on this financial literacy and microeconomics curriculum by improving it and adding new topics.

Competitions

The first and core part of Hackonomics is the competition, where individuals and groups compete in submissions to win prizes. Having hosted 3 hackathons with thousands of participants across 118 nations, our newest hackathon, Hackonomics 2027, is now live on Devpost. The competition department oversees management, questions, and organization of the hackathon and is also responsible for creating charter hackathons in parallel with Hackonomics.

Research

Hackonomics is launching a new research division focused on facilitating the publication of original work through an official journal. This will provide members with a meaningful opportunity to contribute to the academic and professional community by producing verified, high-quality research. All submissions will be reviewed and validated in collaboration with industry experts to ensure rigor and credibility.

Website

The website team is responsible for written documentation, content organization, and overall web presence, serving over 30,000 visitors. Members will contribute to a range of tasks beyond documentation, helping build and maintain a polished, professional experience for all Hackonomics visitors and partners. There will also be opportunities to work with various coding languages and tools.
